Lindsay Oldham’s journey with ceramics began in childhood, shaped by the gentle influence of her mother, a pottery teacher. From an early age, she found comfort in the tactile, grounding nature of clayan early love that stayed with her, quietly threading through the different chapters of her creative life.

She later studied at the Michaelis School of Fine Art, majoring in photography, and went on to work as a press photographer. Yet throughout the years, clay remained her quiet anchor.

Today, Lindsay works full-time as both a ceramic artist and photographer. Her ceramic pieces are stocked in select stores and galleries across South Africa, recognised for their subtle elegance and organic presence.

With a background in fine art, Lindsay brings a strong sense of composition and movement to her ceramics — like sketching with her hands instead of a pencil. Her practice is intuitive and deeply tactile, led more by feeling than by plan, grounded in the slow, expressive rhythm of making.
